Des Moines Area Real Estate Update March 2020

Here in Des Moines, the market is still thriving. Our listing inventory is low, so we are still seeing a benefit to homes being listed.

Closings, inspections, appraisals, etc. have not been affected, however, I am keeping in contact for changes in procedures, etc. 

Buyers & Sellers: 

* If you want to look at a home or have showings for your listing; we can arrange a time for a video walkthrough to see it virtually or I have taken preventative measures if you’d still like an in-person showing with shoe booties, sanitary wipes and non-latex gloves (I’ve also included these items in my active listings).

* If you currently have your home on the market. Consider leaving doors open and lights on when you have a showing to help reduce the number of surfaces that must be touched. Be sure to sanitize before and after a showing. Again, if you are uncomfortable having people through that is absolutely OK.

* All offers and contract paperwork can be signed and submitted electronically.

Ultimately, you must determine what’s right for you as a home buyer or home seller. My job isn’t to push you into a decision you’re not comfortable with, but rather to provide local context that may be lost in the national media coverage. Our market is still thriving. We just may need to make some adjustments to how we do business. This also may change in the upcoming weeks, and I will keep everyone updated.
